Comments:

Part of a series of interPOP routes coming out of Washington, D.C. and moving on towards towards Charlotte, NC with a spur to Bluefield, WV. The next stop is the POP at the Sprint Local tandem office in Wytheville office. An interesting aside, the Roanoke POP has been massively expanded to the point where it is much larger than the more high traffic Manassas POP. The Roanoke POP also features a large GPS antenna for timing and is physically located at Gearhart Park which is now a large skateboarding ramp.

Unlike other areas it appears that the technician responsible for the Roanoke region does an admirable job of keeping the ROW markers in good condition by removing those markers that have met untimely ends.

While top marks are given for route marker maintence, the same cannot be said for facilities used in conjunction with postal correspondance. You could send mail but not only would you be fighting the post office but you would also be fighting the mailbox.
