Comments:
Tandem office, also a Sprint long distance POP site (one of the few colocated,
non-standalone POPs). R&B Network is a psuedo-backhaul carrier division of
former independent telco Roanoke & Botetourt Telephone Company. R&B's
assets (landline, wireless/wireline cable and backhaul) were bought by CFW
and the merged company renamed to "nTelos" (throwing away close to 100 years of
branding and history). nTelos promptly went into Ch. 11.
Omnipoint is one of the companies that was purchased by VoiceStream to become T-Mobile USA. Nextel Partners is a Nextel affiliate.
Office still appears to have an active rooftop microwave link to the old United Inter-Mountain Telephone microwave hub on Sand Mountain which was used to interconnect the remote offices to the RBOC (C&P Telephone) backbone and tandem switch in Roanoke.
