Probable Wilmington, DE to Baltimore #2 segement of the Cambidge, MA to Washington, D.C. fiber optic route. Launched in 1983 this was AT&T Corporation's first all fiber optic long distance route. This route runs partially parallel to the old Wilmington, DE - Baltimore #2, MD K carrier route along MD route 40 until an undetermined point before Perryville, MD. At that point the K carrier route seems to continue above and parallel to MD route 40 but the fiber optic run switches to AMTRAK trackage for the remainder of the trip to Baltimore #2.

This route also features a mishmash set of regenerator huts. Much of the Maryland facilities are uniform in design (except for the blast door covering of WFT8S) but the huts in Delaware are very different from each other and the huts in Maryland. WFT2S looks as if it dates back to the coaxial cable days as does WFT4S. However, WFT2S is a medium sized redbrick structure similar to the huts found along the Dranesville - Arlington #2 and Dranesville - Faulkner, MD routes. Regenerator hut WFT4S is much larger than any of the other huts discovered on this route but shares a similar cinderblock construction to the majority of the other huts. Despite the similarity in construction WFT4S seems to predate the Maryland route facilities...
