Thins only covers the Virginia portion of the Upper Strasburg, PA - Lynchburg, VA N carrier route. Also included is the route from Winchester 1 to Warrenton 2, however it is not confirmed if the USL route made use of the Winchester 1 - Warrenton 2 route facilities. Corrections are appreciated.
There is a reported modernish hut outside of Orange with Monrovia contact information. It is not known if this is part of a direction Monrovia - Charlottesville 2 route. It is being included here for completeness until a further evidence comes forward. Touching on modern regenerators, a newer fiber optic route can be seen going over Peter's Mnt. and parallel to Charlottesville 2 and a N carrier repeater hut. It is thought this fiber goes on to Charlottesville 1 (Charlottesville RS) or the Sprint Local (ex Central Telephone ) CO on High Street where AT&T has a POP. I can only recall seeing MCI fiber for the Charlottesville POP in the city proper to the route may bypass Charlottesville proper (unlikely).
AT&T fiber markers reappear south on Rt. 20 and continues briefly towards the east on route 53 passsing under Charlottesville 3 (active microwave hub on Carter's Mnt.). However, this marker is much different from the modern solid red fiber marker. Instead of all red plastic, this marker has an orange plastic body with white head and features a multicolored AT&T label.
