Of note is the ariel cable "vault". GTE's Appomattox CO and Citizen Telephone Coop's Locust Grove CO are the only other offices that have this feature (that I know of). This seems to be an ILEC thing as I know of know former C&P COs that exhibit this behavior, even the very rural offices. Finally, it seems that Dillwyn has undergone two, maybe three expansons. This might have been done to facilitate access to AT&T's network via backhauled fiber from the Dillwyn microwave tower and access POP futher north off of Rt. 15. While this is plausible, one would think all interconnection for the LATA would occur at the main Charlottesville CO where Sprint has the LATA access tandem and AT&T another POP (as well as nearby POPs for Sprint and MCI).
