Comments:

Inter POP fiber route between Newport News and Richmond with repeaters and fiber running along CSX Transportation right of way. Regeneration facilities generally have a large Sprint logo on door and 1-800 number for emergency contact. Regenerator power meters feature much older U.S. Sprint one call stickers. Site IDs are taken from the closest geographical locality since there do not seem to be any IDs on the huts themseleves.

For many years the Newport News POP was used to backhaul Sprint PCS traffic to the Sprint PCS MTSO in Richmond until the Norfolk field office could be converted into the market MTSO. Very recently many exchange formerly routed through here have been moved to the Norfolk MTSO.

Odd note: all regenerator doors face east...
