What more can be said? Arlington 2, in AT&T parlance, is/was a major
cable termination point at one time supporting a fiber optic cable to the
Dranesville bunker as well as not one but two fiber optic routes to Richmond 2.
The Dranesville route was original a coaxial run but has been upgraded to utilize
modern fiber optics. The repeater huts for that route are still in some form of
service.
In addition it is thought that Arlington 2 once supported special circuits to the
Pentagon but these may have been turned down in the 70s. T20 was once an AUTOVON
switch. It is unknown what T30 was. 03T, T20 and T20 are thought to be out of service
and are listed for historical refrence.
Arlington 2 is currently a long distance 4ESS switch and access POP site. Additionally, the office is most likely an MTSO for AT&T Wireless.
Roofline microwave horns once connected Arlington 2 to an AT&T microwave site called Garden City which served as a microwave hub and gateway into Washington, D.C. Garden City has since been dehorned and sold.
