ARTNVAARDS0 is the Southern section ISDN hub for the Washington, D.C. LATA. The office is also an IP-VPN aggregation point. Intermedia seems to have moved out and the 399 exchange has been divided up between Bell Atlantic Mobile (Verizon Wireless), MCIMetro ATS and Cavalier Telephone. The 478, 581 and 589 exchanges are new additions to ARTNVAARC1T having been assigned in the last three years or so. As is the 936 exchange for ARTNVAARDS1. Focal's POI, ARTNVAAR8MD, is a meet point for Focal's switch WASHDCRKDS2. Focal exchanges 672 have been moved to WASHDCRKDS2 and subdivided with Bell Atlantic Mobile and Level 3 Communications.

Additionally, in June of 2003, this office became the dedicated IntraLATA tandem for the Virginia portion (NPA 571/703) of the Washington, DC LATA in an effort to provide capacity relief to the Southwest office in Washington, D.C. proper.
