There is strong evidence, such as
this cable marker, that
suggests this was originally a CONTEL central office. Like several other
small and rural ILECs this office features an
ariel cable entry. What
is really nice about ariel cable entrances is that one can appreciate the
power of fiber optics. Compare in the picture linked about the size of the
copper feeder cable versus the single, thin, fiber optic cable. Ironically,
that wisp of fiber holds hundreds of times the capacity as its thicker copper
counter part does.
