Comments:
The GTE Mobilnet (now Verizon Wireless) entry goes to a local cell tower.
While it is possible that the cell tower has POI equipment I am placing the
respective entries here as the Farmville office has more than enough space
as well as being the central telecom hub for the area (however, the tandem
is still at Charlottesville Main). Also Bell Atlantic has C&P Telephone
cobranded branded fiber markers coming down Rt. 45 from Cumberland County. The
full impact of this is unkown but it is thought the fiber helps provide for
the exchange of traffic or backhaul between the Bell Atlantic remote switches
and the DMS at Farmville. Again, this is just speculation.
The GTE entry was original classified as a full blown cellular switch but recent NANPA filings now have the 390 exchange assigned to a meet point. Additionally the PT could be short for Persimmon Tree Rd., the road the cell tower mentioned above is suspected to be off of. Corrections will be made when a visit to that cell tower is made in the future.
